A {{c1::second}}-degree, {{c1::deep partial}}-thickness burn involves destruction of the {{c2::epidermis and the dermis}}. It presents as a wet or dry wound that is painful only to {{c2::pressure}}.
The wound may be any color, most commonly white, yellow, or red. Healing is less likely to occur w/ re-epithelialization in this type of burn, and {{c3::surgical evaluation}} may be necessary.

Note 1: Second-degree deep partial-thickness burns are less likely to heal by themselves via re-epithelialization compared to first-degree burns
