Flexion teardrop fractures can cause {{c1::anterior cord}} syndrome due to compression of the {{c2::pyramidal (corticospinal) tracts}} and {{c2::anterior spinothalamic}} tracts
Extra Info
- due to posterior displacement of the bertebral body
- clinically presents as complete paralysis (corticospinal) and loss of **pain and temperature sensation (spinothalamic)** → though kaplan neuro and radiopedia say lateral spinothalamic transmits pain/temp and anterior spinothalamic transmits crude touch/pressure
- The dorsal column usually remains intact, preserving touch and vibration sense
