CARBON MONOXIDE GLOBAL POISONINGS

          • 45% of ~68k exposures from 2000 – 2009 were managed at home, <5% mortality

• International – Australia, Asia, and Africa (mostly accidental fires and suicidal poisoning using car exhaust or charcoal)
  • Australia : <10% of exposures are {{c1::accidental}}. Deaths >> admissions
  • Asia: epidemic of CO {{c1::suicides}} in Hong Kong and Taiwan led to charcoal regulations
  • S Africa : people light fires for managing {{c1::crop and pasture land}} during dry season
