Text
sound is {{c1::mechanical}} energy transmitted by pressure waves in a material medium (requires {{c2::particles}} that are able to move)

{{c7::transducer}} is source of sound, generates the {{c5::wave}}

a cycle (AKA {{c5::wave}} or event) describes a single push/pull event, termed {{c3::compression}}/{{c4::rarefaction}}.
- {{c3::compression}} refers to point where molecules are pushed together and {{c4::rarefaction}} is point where molecules are spread wider apart
- one cycle = one {{c3::compression}} + one {{c4::rarefaction}}

propagation means to move or travel through the medium (gas/liquid/solid)
- sound moves in a {{c6::longitudinal}} wave, parallel with direction of wave itself
