Clindamycin is effective against invasive Group A Strep and Staph Aureus infection as it is a potent suppressor of the synthesis of their {{c1::toxins}}

Extra

- Downregulates production of TSST-1, suppresses synthesis of PBPs and M protein, and supresses LPS induced synthesis of TNF in monocytes

- Thus often added to nafcillin / vancomycin in treatment of serious deep-tissue infections caused by these organisms
