In {{c2::chronic renal failure}}, the combination of elevated PTH and decreased 1,25-(OH)2D3 produces {{c1::renal osteodystrophy}}, in which there is increased bone resorption and osteomalacia.

Can't suck [Ca] back in at the kidney (renal), so we use ↑ PTH to suck out [Ca] from the bone (osteodystrophy)
