- cat expells sporulated oocyst into environment
- taken in by intermediate host and the sporozoites released invade the gut cells, forming tachzyzoites
- tachyzoites multiply rapidly and are able to be transported all over the body
- after immune response is triggered, cysts are formed, leaving IH infected for life
- FH is infected by ingesting tissue infected with cysts
- cysts release bradyzoites that invade the gut epithelial cells, undergoing asexual repro
- sexual phase then occurs and oocysts are then formed to later be shed in feces
