What is the cause of mucometra and ovarian cysts in female rays (Mylobatiformes)

Ovoviviparity- appear to be induced ovulators. Without males constantly produce follicles which become large and cystic- can rupture- leading to hemorrhage or coelomitis
Uterus never involutes and continues to produce histotroph - over time dense histotroph (mucometra)
