  • Aerobic respiration or oxidative phosphorylation when we have adequate oxygen:
    • Energy source is glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids 
    • They are transported to mitochondria, entering the citric acid cycle 
    • Large amount of energy produced (EX: ~32 ATP from 1 glucose)
    • Slower reaction, requires continuous O2 supply
