Describe the nerve pathway for the pupillary reflex [5]
Back
1. Retina cells (at back of eye) detect light and passes signal to pretectal nucleus in the midbrain
2. Pretectal nucleus stimulates Edinger-westerphal nucleus (on both sides) which passes signal along oculomotor nerve (CN 3)
3. Oculomotor nerve synpases in ciliary ganglion
4. Oculomotor nerve passes signal down short cilliary nerve
5. Signal passed from short cilliary nerve to iris causing it to constrict
