Nitrous oxide is contraindicated in surgeries involving {{c1::air containing cavities}} due to differences in its {{c2::solubility}}. 
Extra
Nitrous oxide expands closed-gas spaces due to differences in its solubility with the nitrogen it replaces. 

Conditions where nitrous oxide would be hazardous include:

Venous/arterial air embolism
Pneumothorax
Acute intestinal obstruction w/ bowel distension
Intracranial air
Pulmonary air cyst
Intraocular air bubbles
Tympanic membrane grafting
