Text
Emergence after anesthesia with {{c1::nitrous oxide}} can cause a transient {{c2::diffusion hypoxia}} because of the displacement of alveolar {{c3::oxygen}}.
Extra
Nitrous oxide is very quick/insoluble → it rushes out of the blood into the lungs, causing a transient dilution
This is avoided by administration of 100% O2
