The most common agents that cause anaphylactic reactions during anesthesia are {{c1::neuromuscular blockers}}.

In a study of 789 anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions reported during anesthesia, 58% were caused by neuromuscular blockers, latex (17%), and antibiotics (15%) were also implicated.

The incidence of anaphylactic reactions during anesthesia is estimated at a rate of 1:3,500 to 1:20,000.
