Text
{{c2:Cytotoxic::vasogenic/cytotoxic/interstitial}} edema is associated with {{c1::hypoxic ischemic insult:: cause?}}
Extra
- This form of edema is frequently observed in hypoxic-ischemic injury, where cells experience insufficient energy, resulting in the depletion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and malfunction of Na+ K+ ATPase pumps, disrupting the selective permeability of cell membranes.
- Additionally, cytotoxic edema can occur due to changes in systemic osmolality, causing intracellular edema.
