Front
What are the clinical features of mitral stenosis (murmur, LA/pulmonary effects)?
Back
1) Opening snap with diastolic rumble (large diastolic pressure gradient → turbulent flow → audible "rumble")

2) Volume overload leads to dilitation of the LA, resulting in:
- Pulmonary congestion with edema and alveolar damage
- Pulmonary hypertension and right-sided heart failure
- Atrial fibrillation and risk of mural thrombi
*Important concept: whenever you dilate heart tissue, you increase the risk of developing an arrythmia
