• Rapid Assessment - expose & examine the chest. Palpate & inspect for signs of trauma.
– Inspect for signs of previous cardiovascular intervention. – Consider respiratory causes of chest pain / musculoskeletal
• Consider the position patient based on position of comfort. 

Meds: Keep an eye out for the specific medications 

platelet inhibitors (ASA, Plavix) / blood thinners (Coumadin, warfarin)

cardiac medications (beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, digitalis, antiarrhythmics, etc.)

diuretics (Lasix)

Past Hx 

Note any history of the following disorders: • hypertension • diabetes • previous myocardial infarction or heart failure • pulmonary disease
