Describe your management for lymphadema

1. Early referral to a lymphedema specialist clinic

2. Pain management with simple analgesia such as paracetamol/NSAIDs

3. Skin hygiene and care (cleansing, low pH lotions, moisturisers)

4. Leg elevation particularly when sited or in bed

5. Weight management – enrol in exercise program, excess body weight slows lymphatic flow

6. Manual lymphatic drainage/sequential intermittent pneumatic compression

7. Compression bandaging/garments

8. Low level laser therapy

9. Consider surgical options such as liposuction if conservative measures fail.
