The small intestine epithelium can be divided into:

  • {{c1::crypts (of Lieberkuhn)}}, which have

    • {{c3::stem cells}}
    • {{c3::transit amplifying cells}}
    • {{c3::tuft cells}}
Extra
tuft cells are rare, but can be found in both villi and crypts
transit amplifying are the differentiating cells on their way out of the crypts
