Dietary Reference Intakes
  • Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) - The average daily dietary intake that is sufficient to meet the requirements of almost all individuals in a group
  • Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) - A nutrient intake value that is estimated to meet the requirements of half the individuals in a group
The EAR for an elderly male (>60 years) is 1700 Kcal/D and for an elderly female (>60 years) is 1500 Kcal/D.
Note: There is no RDA for energy. The EAR is equivalent to Estimated Energy Requirement (EER).
