what is apneusis breathing ?

{{c1::apneusis is basically deep breathing with a pause at full inspiration followed by a brief, insufficient release.}}
Extra
A transection at the mid-pontine level removes the influence of pneumotaxic center on the apneustic center. If the vagi are intact, this results in regular, deep breathing. If the vagi are also cut, it leads to prolonged inspiratory effort, known as apneusis.
