Juvenile absence epilepsy (JAE) has 3-5 Hz generalized spike and polyspike and slow wave bursts. Benign neonatal convulsions may be associated with a range of paroxysmal abnormalities superimposed upon a normal background. Rasmussen encephalitis usually has unilateral slowing and spikes.
