  • Medullary pyramids are anterior swellings of the medulla oblongata.
  • They are located on either side of the anterior median fissure.
  • Consist of bundled corticospinal nerve fibres.
  • Descending corticospinal fibres cross-over just inferiorly of the pyramids.
  • = Decussation of the pyramids.
