Does the OCCUPANCY ASSUMPTION apply to ACh responses at the NMJ?
A. YES
B. NO
Back
B. NO
"Occupancy Assumption" is the idea that 1% of occupancy leads to 1% of physiological response. This is a proportional relationship that does not apply to the NMJ. This is because at the NMJ, 100% of physiological response is achieved by 1% NAChR occupancy. There are extra receptors or "spare receptors" needed to get a 100% response.
