Define Perception Action Theory (Gibson)
Back
-It's based on a
combination of dynamic systems and Edelman’s neuronal group selection
theory
-It's based on
experiential learning and spontaneous motor activity toward a goal
-Its specifically for
moving and reaching tasks and it's based on schemas (schemas are just
categories of information stored in long term memory)
-Attempts to explain brain function in terms of the
development of neurologic connections
-Genetics and experience are of equal importance
EX: An example is a baby sees a toy it wants across
the room it looks around its environment to understand how to get to it, it
then makes an induvial plan to get to the toy, and the baby’s identifies the
task of crawling over to the toy. The baby puts all three together to reach the
goal
