Cardiac
- Heart failure exacerbation: de novo heart failure, flashpulmonary edema (dyspnea, crackles)
- MI (chest pain, diaphoresis)
- Aortic dissection (chest pain, asymmetric pulses)
Neurological
- Hypertensive encephalopathy (headache, vomiting, confusion, seizure, blurry vision, papilledema)
- Ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke (focal neuro deficits, altered mental status)
- Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (seizures, headache, visual changes, altered mental status)
Renal (acute hypertensive nephrosclerosis)
- AKI (azotemia, oliguria, edema)
- Microhematuria
Opthalmic
- Acute hypertensive retinopathy (blurry vision, decreased visual acuity, retinal flame hemorrhage, papilledema, Elschnig spots)
