Field Change Suggestions:
At what rate should MAP be lowered in hypertensive emergency and why?
10 to 20 percent in the first hour and by a further 5 to 15 percent over the next 23 hours. Do not exceed 25% in first several hours. This is to avoid ischemic damage when vascular beds have become habituated to elevated BP.
