Narcissistic personality disorder is a pervasive pattern of {{c1::grandiosity,}} need for {{c1::admiration}}, and lack of {{c1::empathy}} beginning in early adulthood. 

These people have the lowest self esteem. May be caused by someone who did not nurture an emotional connection. Raised by narcissists and only praised for accomplishments and not worth anything just because they exist. Only praise accomplishment and not the effort. No emotional connections. This behavior is a defense mechanism though the person doesn't think anything is wrong with them.
