Copious topical anaesthetic drops prior to removal (not to be prescribed to patient) eg. Oxybuprocaine 0.4%
Remove with anaesthetic-soaked cotton bud or bevel of 25G needle
Double eye pad
Despite no proven benefit:

Follow-up in 1 day

If over axis of vision, refer to ophthalmologist
