Intravascular primitive erythropoiesis in the yolk sac, large nucleated erythroblasts, embryonic Hbs
Hepatic
Starts at gestational wk 5-7, extravascular definitive hematopoiesis,
Spleen, thymus, placenta, lymph nodes co-operate
Myeloid (medullary)

Starts at month 4 or 5 of fetal development, primary hematopoietic organ by the end of wk 24, major after birth
