What is Fundamentalism?

Twentieth-century Protestant reaction to theological liberalism and cultural modernism. Fundamentalists argued that modernist theologians had misinterpreted or rejected certain doctrines, especially biblical inerrancy, which they considered the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Fundamentalists have a literal interpretation of the Bible and emphasized the fundamentals of the faith. J. Gresham Machen is a key figure.
