English reformer and theologian. Tyndale received his education at the University of Oxford, graduating in 1512 with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his master of arts degree at the University of Cambridge. Tyndale became acquainted with the first-generation evangelicals through numerous meetings at the White Horse Inn. His conversion to the evangelical faith in 1522 changed his life. He worked on a new English translation of the Bible from the original languages. As he continued to work on translating the Bible in Cologne, his printer betrayed him to the local Roman Catholic authorities. However, he was able to escape before he was arrested.
