In normal physiology, which part of the left ventricular waveform estimates the left atrial pressure?
Back
The left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) At the beginning of diastole, the mitral valve opens because the atrium has a higher pressure than the ventricle. The ventricle will then fill until pressures equalize, which occurs at the end of diastole. At this time, under normal physiology, the LVEDP and mean atrial pressure are the same. This measurement is a good indication of the patient’s volume status. Normal LVEDP is about 3-12, signs of congestion can often be seen when LVEDP is 20+
