An unanticipated doubling or tripling of {{c1::end-tidal CO2 (in the absence of ventilatory change)}} is an early and sensitive indicator of malignant hyperthermia.
Extra

If the patient survives the initial presentation, acute kidney failure and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) can rapidly ensue.

Other complications of MH include cerebral edema with seizures and hepatic failure.
