Innervation of the large intestine:
- Up to splenic flexure, it is autonomically innervated via the {{c1::superior mesenteric}} plexus, with parasympathetic fibers coming from the {{c1::vagus nerve}} and sympathetic fibers coming from the {{c1::greater and lesser splanchnics}}
- After the splenic flexure, it is parasympathetically innervated by the {{c2::pelvic splanchnics::nerve}} which go through the {{c2::hypogastric plexus::plexus}}, and it is sympathetically innervated by {{c2::lumbar splanchnics::nerve}} through the {{c2::inferior mesenteric ganglion/plexus::plexus}} and the {{c2::sacral splanchnics::nerve}} through the {{c2::inferior hypogastric plexus::plexus}}
