Fetal segmental oxygenation patterns are far different from adult oxygenation patterns.
In the fetus, highly oxygenated blood can be found in the {{c1::umbilical vein, the inferior vena cava superior to the ductus venosus, the aortic arch and all of its branches (brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid, and left subclavian a.)::3}}.
Moderately oxygenated blood can be found in {{c1::all arterial vessels distal of the ductus arteriosus (due to oxygen mixing) and the umbilical arteries::2}}.
Poorly oxygenated blood can be found in {{c1::most corporal veins including those that drain into the SVC and the IVC inferior to the ductus venosus::2}}.
