Describe pre-op preparation of the patient

Food and water starvation - if species can vomit and age dependent
Recommend to owner to bath and groom days prior to surgery
Clipping - can be done prior to surgical day, before induction or once under anaesthetic (can irritate skin)
Any preparations that are specific for surgery e.g. GI surgery (enema), urinary tract (catherisation), oral (flushing of mouth) etc.
Aseptic preparation of the skin
Draping of the patient - establishing sterile field
