What is the difference between Spin Echo and Gradient Echo?
Back
Spin echo uses an excitation pulse of 90º (normally), and a 180º refocusing pulse that eliminates the inhomogeneities.

For gradient echo, the it uses an excitation pulse with a flip angle lower than 90º. There is also the absence of the 180º refocusing. This leads to a greater influence of the magnetic susceptibility effects.

For gradient echo, the it uses an excitation pulse with a flip angle lower than 90º. There is also the absence of the 180º refocusing. This leads to a greater influence of the magnetic susceptibility effects.
