What is the tracer principle?
Back
The tracer principle means the radioactive isotopes have the same chemical properties as the non-radioacttive isotopes of the same element.
The radioactive decay presents a higher energy and so it becomes easier to detect than a chemical reaction.
-Same chemistry, same biological/metabolic behaviour, highly sensitive (very small amounts of tracer needed)
