The anterior maxillary ridge shows a greater {{c1::horizontal}} reduction and lesser {{c2::vertical}} reduction than the mandibular ridge, the {{c3::vertical}} reduction being approximatively half that of the mandibular ridge. The horizontal reduction of the maxillary anterior ridge tends to be greater from the palatal side, whereas labial reduction is initially greater in the anterior mandibular ridge
