The {{c1::median}} or {{c2::mid-sagittal}} plane bisects the body into two equal halves. Any plane that lies parallel to this is known as a {{c3::parasagittal}} plane. Often, though, the term {{c4::sagittal}} plane is used to refer to both {{c5::mid-sagittal}} and {{c6::parasagittal}} sections. The term {{c7::medial}} describes any position nearer to the {{c8::median plane}}, and {{c9::lateral}}, any position further from the {{c8::median plane}}.
