Acetazolamide causes metabolic acidosis. Furosemide causes
a marked increase in sodium and a moderate increase in
potassium excretion. Thiazides cause alkalosis and a greater
increase in sodium than potassium excretion. Mannitol causes
a small increase in both sodium and potassium excretion and
no change in body pH. Spironolactone causes the changes
