- Combination chemotherapy very common; e.g.
- CMF: cyclophosamide, methotrexate, and fluorouracil used in the treatment of breast carcinoma
- advantages of combination chemotherapy:
- doses of individual drugs can be {{c1::reduced}} and thus, reduce organ specific toxicities
- combinations that inhibit cell division at {{c1::more than one site }}are more effective in inhibiting cell growth
- Like slowing down the pathway to estradiol and also inhibiting estradiol itself, both work in tandem for better effect
- combinations reduce the probability that cancer cells will develop {{c1::resistance}} to drugs
