A 54 year old man presents with sudden onset palpitations and is found to be in atrial fibrillation. The decision is made to attempt pharmacological cardioversion. He is prescribed flecainide and metoprolol.
What is the purpose of metoprolol?
A. Prevents 1:1 conduction if atrial flutter occurs
