Field Change Suggestions:
When one emotion is experienced, the other is suppressed

Explains motivation for drug use: as drug use increases, the body counteracts its effects, leading to tolerance and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms.

ONE EMOTION STRENGTHENS WHILE THE OPPOSITE EMOTION WEAKENS OVERTIME. So with drugs, pleasure gets weaker and withdraw (unpleasentry) gets stronger – eventually the person is just taking it to feel normal.
