PCOS is the [most] common cause of both hirsutism and oligomenorrhoea. Isotretinoin is reserved for [severe] or refractory acne due to its teratogenic effects. Metformin is used in PCOS to address insulin resistance and improve ovulation. The Rotterdam criteria require [two] out of three findings: anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries on USS. Hirsutism in PCOS is due to [increased] androgens, leading to excess hair growth in androgen-dependent areas.
