- Ventricles are relaxing with no change in volume
- Ventricular pressure < aortic pressure = {{c3::semilunar (aortic)::AV/semilunar}} valves close
- Point of this phase is to make ventricular pressure {{c1::<::</>/=}} atrial pressure so that ventricular filling can occur
