systemic hypotension & hypoperfusion > baroreceptor reflexes, catecholamine release, activation of RAAS, ADH release, and generalized sympathetic stimulation > peripheral vasoconstriction, tachycardia, renal fluid conservation  > increased cardiac output > restoration of perfusion
