Front
Your 36-week-pregnant wife calls your name from upstairs! You rush to her side and quickly learn that for the past two days, she’s been experiencing irregular, pulsatile contractions of around 1 minute in length that gradually disappear. She asks you if the baby is coming out soon. In your medical opinion, is she going into labour?

Back
Braxton Hicks contractions, also known as "false labour contractions," are irregular, mild uterine contractions that occur during pregnancy, preparing the body for labour, but are not considered themselves part of labour. True labour contractions are not responsive to rest, are severe, and increase in duration, frequency and intensity as labour progresses.
